INDOOR AIR QUALITY (IAQ) SERVICES

Effective Indoor Air Quality Solutions
For your home to be free of allergens, the ductwork must be sealed. The air intake, circulation and exhaust must also be properly controlled and monitored. While specially trained and certified technicians are necessary to establish clean air, they must also have the right equipment and materials. Further, because each home is different and has unique conditions, our Indoor Environmental Quality exam begins with an overall analysis of the air quality in a home. We monitor the air in your home for likely contaminants that include particulates, humidity, volatile organic compounds, carbon monoxide and fresh air content. Click here for additional details about our computerized air quality analysis. Our certified and experienced professionals also perform comprehensive manual inspections.

The problem

Airborne particles can irritate the eyes, nose, throat, and lungs and increase respiratory problems, especially in those with preexisting medical conditions, such as cardiovascular illness and immune system diseases.

Many types of particles, such as smoke, pet dander, mold spores, and pollen can trigger asthma found inside the home. In addition, if certain chemicals attached to particles are inhaled on a regular basis, they may cause lung cancer.

Airborne particles include:

  • Allergens, such as dust mites, pet dander, pollen, mold and dust. Allergens can cause allergic reactions, respiratory problems and asthma attacks.
  • Biological particles, such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi. They can cause infectious and non-infectious diseases, such as colds, influenza, and respiratory infections.
  • Toxic particles, such as cigarette smoke, wood smoke, lead dust and asbestos.
Indoor Air Quality Monitoring

IAQ monitoring pinpoints air quality problems in your home that can affect you or your family’s health, as well as their comfort and safety. Your Luskin-Clark professional places an IAQ monitor in your home for a few days where it measures temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and airborne particles in one-minute cycles. Then once a day it transmits the data via the phone line to us for analysis.

HEPA Filtration, Certified Class II Medical Devices
For maximum relief and health, fresh air should be filtered through a HEPA filter. For germicidal protection, a UV lamp, the same technology that hospitals use to prevent and kill bacteria, viruses and mold can also be added. A true HEPA filter is certified by AHAM to capture 99.97% of 0.3-micron particles including pollen, mold spores, mildew, dust mite debris, tobacco smoke and dander. Our certified HEPA filters are Class II Medical Devices, which may qualify some homeowners for reimbursement, with doctor approval, under some insurance plans. Further, our products may be tax deductible.

Humidity Control
To prevent dust mites, mold, mildew, fungi, bacteria and viruses, humidity should be maintained at 40%. If your home is very humid, it may require a dehumidification system. Homes that are too dry may need a humidifier. Our trained staff can provide additional details about our whole house products for keeping humidity at comfortable and healthy levels.
